The estate is run by siblings Dino, Diana and Gianni, all of whom have devoted themselves to creating fresh, expressive Barbera d’Asti and pure, scintillating Gavi in the most delicate, low-intervention way. Without doubt these wines, like truffles, are worth any trouble you might have finding them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"title\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eVITICULTURE\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWorking organically in the vineyards since 2018 they were certified as organic in 2022. Sustainable agricultural practices, following the rules for integrated farming which prohibit the use of herbicides. Rigorous green harvesting and bunch selection in the vineyards ensure that only perfectly ripe fruit is harvested.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"title\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWINEMAKING\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe harvest in the Bauda vineyard takes place in the first week of October and grape selection is by hand. Immediately after having been harvested, the grapes are pressed in the Estate cellar and then poured into stainless steel vats. Maceration along with alcoholic fermentation lasts 12 days. Throughout all the steps, fermentation temperature is constantly kept under control and never exceeds 30°C. Our terroir benefits by this altitude and exposure to cooling coastal breezes, giving us more freshness than many of the region’s wine. But it is the vineyard soils which give Poggio Lamentano its special character. The mixed ‘galestro’ clay and sandy soils lend supple tannins, and earthy spice, whilst the calcareous soil, rare to the area give a stony, fine minerality to our wine.
